I don’t have to go to work until next week, but that’s just because I have exams to sit for. I doubt I’m able to make it through this one.

And oh, have I told? We have a new guy at work and he’s this really cute, beng dude. They got him started last Monday. He’s my age, has a diamond stud on his left ear, and wears thoroughly pressed shirts to the office with a really cool do. I can stare at his peepers all day and he smells really nice too! Best of all, the boss placed him right next to me at the office! Tee hee!

Braces: 5 months, 28 days (Sixth adjustment)

My appointments with Dr Matthew usually fall on the first Monday of every month, but since I was in Vietnam on the 8th, I had to reschedule it for today.

I took off from work a little late so it was dusk when I reached the place, and I caught Dr Matthew with his arms totally winged out outside the clinic “to get some air”. It was cute! Apparently he hadn’t any other patients other than me. He saw me got off the cab, beckoned me over and we talked a bit before walking me in. I guess I kind of like that.

Dr Matthew put in several power chains today. These power chains are made of the same type of elastic material as the elastic ligatures, and they’re necessary to close some of the gaps between my teeth. He said that the extra force applied by power chains help to move the teeth faster, although I reckon that this extra force is quite a sore, really – right now my teeth are aching pretty bad so maybe I have to go back to tofu for lunch tomorrow.

For ligatures, they gave me pale purple, something which I don’t really fancy. My next adjustment will be on 5 February. I will get to pick a new colour then.

Happy Noo Year!

I know, right? I lied about updates getting regular again three posts back. I actually have been pretty bad with updates! Oh well, here’s an update now – with pictures, too!

So I’d just flown in from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam last evening. I had been there since last Saturday for an entire day of conference, then touring and of course, shopping! I love the Vietnamese, although the city’s road system isn’t really excellent – some of its streets are even riddled with potholes. The roads are packed with motorbikes and well, just more motorbikes, but they’re not too bad because the motorists have this general behaviour of dodging pedestrians. It’s quite comical, really, especially when you can see them going the wrong way up a one way street or ignoring red lights.

And since our tour guide had given us a tip-off on folks who might pick your sack out on the streets, I got pictures of the city streets taken from inside the tour bus:

Yeah, the Vietnamese hawk utterly cheap polo tees on their motorbikes and auction live pups – no, they don’t run on batteries – along the walkways.

We went to visit the “Tiger Cages” and the school kids were there too, apparently on a study trip. They were in their school outfit with worn out slippers hanging on to their pretty little feet, and each kid had a pen and a notepad. I thought I just had to get a picture, so I took my camera out and they got all psyched and raced over. It was too cute!

The place is actually a perfect copy of the “Tiger Cages” set up by the Saigon regime in Con Dao island during the American War. They have real pictures too, and most of them are rather disturbing.

So yeah, I guess I love Vietnam, although I’ve yet to see the rest of it – especially Hanoi. I heard it’s really pretty!
